Although the children under the age of 13 years should not be on Snapchat we are aware that a number of our pupils are. We need to alert all parents to an update that Snapchat has undertaken so that the user's exact location is now shown. This means that anyone can now see where your child is to a very specific location, which if zoomed in will almost be as precise as to their location within a specific building. This poses an enormous safeguarding risk as your child will be visible to potential predators. The only way to change this setting is to go in to your location settings and to switch to 'ghost mode'. We would recommend for the safety of your child that this is done as soon as possible, though ideally would rather children of our school's ages are not using any form of social media.
